During its growth, Economic Development for Central Oregon (EDCO) has played a key role in strengthening Bivvi Camp’s business foundation and expanding its strategic connections.
Strengthening Financial Capacity and Local Expertise
One of the early areas where EDCO added immediate value was connecting the Bivvi team with key local advisors to elevate their financial planning. EDCO introduced Bivvi to Dave Grotjahn, an advisor with the Central Oregon Community College's Small Business Development Center (SBDC). Dave’s expertise in financial analysis and business planning helped the Bivvi team refine their financial statements, providing clarity and precision that improved their ability to pursue bank financing. This collaboration enhanced the company’s readiness to engage lenders with confidence in their fiscal projections and growth strategy.
In parallel, EDCO connected Bivvi with local bookkeeper Liz Wise. Liz’s support has helped streamline the company’s accounting processes and reporting, giving the founders greater visibility into their financial performance and freeing up time to focus on production and customer experience.
Ongoing Coaching and Pitch Development
EDCO Venture Catalyst Director Brian Vierra developed a strong working relationship with the Bivvi founders, meeting with them multiple times to provide business coaching, strategy feedback and support in preparing for investor and community presentations. This coaching was instrumental as Bivvi prepared to present at the Sisters Central Oregon PubTalk in July 2024. At that event, one of Bivvi’s cabins was showcased on display, giving attendees a tangible sense of the product’s design and craftsmanship. With Brian’s guidance, the founders refined their pitch delivery, gaining practice and confidence in presenting their vision for Bivvi Camp to a broader audience.
Building Strategic Partnerships
Beyond advisory support and pitch coaching, EDCO helpedexpand Bivvi’s network into potential new markets. Through EDCO, the companywas introduced to Don Pollard, owner of GFP Enterprises, a local disasterrelief services provider. This connection opened the door to exploratoryconversations about potential collaborations involving small-dwellingconstruction opportunities that leverage Bivvi’s mobile cabin designs. Whilestill in early stages, these discussions reflect the strategic potentialunlocked by linking Bivvi with complementary local enterprises.
Looking Ahead
As its hand-built cabins gain recognition for recreational and utility uses, Bivvi Camp continues to grow. Participation in community events like PubTalk and expanded support from EDCO have strengthened operations and broadened strategic vision. With rising interest in sustainable, portable cabins, Bivvi is well positioned to explore applications from outdoor hospitality to auxiliary dwellings, supported by strong business foundations and local partnerships.
By combining design innovation with thoughtful community engagement and business acumen, Bivvi Camp demonstrates how emerging local ventures can harness regional support to accelerate growth and impact.
