With twenty-nine operating courses, The Insiders Guide to Bend claims that "the big challenge to golfers here is not so much in picking a world-class course, but rather in squeezing in visits to as many as possible.”

Each year, The Central Oregon Visitors Association compiles a survey of the economic impact of golf in the Central Oregon region.  We've summarized a few key statistics below from their 2008 results.

Awbrey Glen Golf Club, Bend (18 holes)

Aspen Lakes Golf Course, outside Sisters (18 holes)
Attention to detail has been given to every aspect of this beautifully designed William Overdorf course just outside Sisters. Immaculately maintained bent grass fairways and multiple tees combined with red sand bunkers create a playing experience unique to Aspen Lakes.

Bend Golf & Country Club, Bend (18 holes)
Private Course since 1927. Member golfing (and guests) only on this great course set among the tall pines on Bend’s southeast side.

Big Meadow Golf Course, Black Butte (18 holes)
One of the region's most established, it offers spectacular views of Black Butte and the Cascades.

Broken Top, Bend (18 holes)
Find a friend or member of the club, this exquisite course is private! Won Golf Digest’s 1995 Top 5 New Private Courses

Crooked River Ranch Golf Course, Crooked River Ranch (18 holes)
Nestled in the region’s deepest canyon, CRR’s course offers unique high desert scenery and golf challenges.

Crosswater, Sunriver (18 holes)
Won Golf Digest’s 1995 Best New Course, among Golf Magazine’s best 100 courses every year since.

Desert Peaks Golf Club, Madras (9 holes)
Desert Peaks Golf Club, a family-oriented 9-hole course, is owned by The City of Madras and is open year around. The Club is located near the airport just north of Madras and features wide open spaces with beautiful mountain views.

Glaze Meadow Golf Course, Black Butte Ranch (18 holes)
Ranked in the world’s Top 100 Courses by Links Magazine, Golf Digest awarded it the Silver Medal for the nation’s top 50 courses

Juniper Golf Club, (18 holes)
One of the region’s best-bests for value-oriented duffers, this municipal course offers views from Mt. Bachelor to Mt. Hood.

Kah-Nee-Ta Resort Golf Course, Warm Springs (18 holes)
Owned by the Conferederated Tribes of Warm Springs, this beautifully maintained course lies at the bottom of a canyon amidst rugged desert scenery and meandering Warm Springs River.

Lost Tracks Golf Club, Bend (18 holes)
Next to the national forest, this popular Bend course is a classic-style par 72 with mature trees, lakes, mountain views, and lava rocks.

Meadow Lakes Golf Course, Prineville (18 holes)
Prineville’s municipal course boasts 10 lakes and excellent values. The course has been featured in the USA Golf Journal and is one of the first-ever recipients of Golf Digest's National Environmental Leaders Award.

Meadows, Sunriver (18 holes)
Crosswater designer John Fought recently reworked this Sunriver original into a true gem of a course and tribute to those of the 1920’s.

Mid-Iron Course, Eagle Crest (18 holes)
Built to promote iron play, course includes safe landing areas ranging from 210 - 15 ft., with tortuous sections of traps and mounds.

Quail Run Golf Course, La Pine (18 holes)
This family-owned development in La Pine offers all the classics of Oregon golf. The course has two pros on staff!

Resort Course, Eagle Crest (18 holes)
Panoramic views of the Three Sisters and other volcanoes dominate this challenging course, the first of Eagle Crest’s three.

Ridge Course, Eagle Crest 18 holes)
This PGA tourney stop (NW Open) is popular with visitors and residents. Great views and wildflowers among the native junipers.

River’s Edge Golf Course, Bend (18 holes)
Featured in Golf Digest’s 1997Best Places to Play, it is also said to be the most difficult in Oregon. Variety, views & challenges abound.

Tetherow Golf Club, Bend (18 holes)
Designed by
David McLay Kidd, this imaginative course west of Bend opened in late 2007  and features links-style play. Eventually the course will become part of a private resort community and hotel, but meanwhile limited outside play is offered on a space available basis.

The Greens at Redmond, Redmond (18 holes)
An executive course with a home-town feel, “The Greens” offers high desert scenery, immaculate grounds, and great values. It was designed by Robert Muir Graves and opened in 1995. It features 3,554 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 58.

Widgi Creek Golf Club, Bend (18 holes)
Yet another great, championship course near Bend, Widgi is growing into full-blown destination status. Elevation warning! +4000 ft.

Woodlands, Sunriver (18 holes)
In the same tradition of other Sunriver courses (a highly ranked championship), Woodlands will test and tempt a golfer at any level.
