Central Oregon contains a number of distinct and unique
communities with markedly different "personalities" and amenities
to offer residents and visitors. Visitors and those just learning
about our area have a tendency to call it "Bend". Certainly, it
is the largest city in the area and largest in Oregon east of the
Cascade Mountain Range, however most residents consider
themselves "Central Oregonians".
Though spanning a considerable geographic area, the
three-county area functions as a single unit or region in
numerous ways. Health care, higher education, air transportation,
civic organizations, events, and many other important aspects
combine to make strong social and economic ties between
communities.
