Incentives to Relocate or Expand in Central Oregon


Profiled in subsequent web pages in this section are the most significant financial tools and resources that Economic Development for Central Oregon (EDCO), Oregon Economic & Community Development (OECDD), and other partner organizations can bring to bear to attract new employers to the area or to help existing companies expand within the region. 

The magnitude of most, but not all, financial incentives is determined by the capital investment of a new project, new job creation, and average employee compensation.  Typically, incentives apply to traded sector companies--those that sell their products or services outside Central Oregon--and thereby increase the region’s economic base. Traded sector companies are typically in manufacturing, renewable energy, and technology (including hardware, software, biotechnology, and information services) sectors.  Traded sector jobs have a multiplier effect in creating jobs in other such sectors as professional and business services, healthcare, education, and retail.
