NOSLER RECEIVES $35,000 INCENTIVE FROM ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROGRAM

Nosler Receives $35,000 Incentive from Energy Efficiency Program

Nosler Receives IncentiveRobert Nosler, CEO, and Mike Lake, Plant Manager, of Nosler, Inc. received a check for $35,007 from Roger Neufeld with RHT Energy Solutions on behalf of the Energy Trust of Oregon, Inc. on Wednesday, July 21. Nosler participated in the Energy Trust’s Production Efficiency program during the implementation of a project to increase energy efficiency in its Bend manufacturing facility. The program helps reimburse costs companies incur for energy savings projects. Representatives from Economic Development for Central Oregon were present to congratulate the company on the successful completion of the project.

RHT’s Neufeld, a program delivery contractor for the Energy Trust, helped Nosler evaluate options for increasing efficiencies and prepare the Energy Trust application. The project involved replacing two 50 hp air compressors with modulation controls, with one 100 hp air compressor with variable frequency drive (vfd) controls. "The variable frequency drive adjusts to the actual usage load, rather than maintaining a constant output," explains Neufeld. "It is a simple change, but the long term energy savings are significant." Nosler estimates it will save $5,792 per year on current electric rates and a kilowatt hour savings per year of 145,864.

According to Mike Lake, "85% of the project costs for the new air compressors were covered by the Energy Trust." This project represents the second energy efficiency initiative Nosler has implemented with the Energy Trust.

Robert Nosler was pleased with the success of their project and said that the company "continues looking ahead at energy efficient options."

Through the Energy Trust Production Efficiency program, Oregon manufacturing and agricultural operations that use electricity from Pacific Power or Portland General Electric can receive special financial incentives that either reduce the project’s payback period to 18 months, or reimburse the company for up to 50 percent of project costs, whichever is less. The program provides a start-to-finish approach, beginning with a custom energy study through overseeing system upgrades. To learn more about the Production Efficiency program, companies can call 1-877-510-6800 or contact Roger Neufeld directly at RHT Energy Solutions, 503-769-9119 or rgneuf@cablerocket.com.

Nosler Inc.  manufactures a full line of bullets for a wide range of hunting and target shooting. With 100 employees, Nosler is one of the region’s largest private employers.

RHT Energy Solutions works with the Energy Trust’s Production Efficiency program helping identify businesses that might benefit from the program, defining possible projects, developing detailed studies for projects, data collection and monitoring, cost estimates, implementation and finalizing the incentive application process.
