PubTalk will feature keynote speaker Carolyn McKnight, Director of MBA Programs for Portland State University, who will speak on "The Mythology of Leadership: What's Your Story?". Carolyn oversees the execution of the new MBA+ curriculum in the School of Business Administration at Portland State University. An acknowledged figure in the area of corporate leadership and organizational development for over 25 years, she is responsible for executing the "360-degree assessments" and individual coaching that MBA+ candidates receive as an integral part of their graduate business degree experience at Portland State. Carolyn also teaches a new class in Leadership Assessment and Development and leads the Office of Graduate Business Programs. Declaring that a mastery of emotional intelligence is as important as traditional business school skills, if not more so in today’s marketplace, Carolyn is leading the nation’s first program to integrate leadership development and management of innovation into the MBA experience.
Carolyn holds a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree as well as a Ph.D. in mythological studies/depth psychology. Before joining the School of Business Administration, she was Vice President of Organizational and Personal Development at Planar Systems in Beaverton, OR where she led executive and leadership development, human resources, and corporate efforts to embed intentional culture. She earlier worked for Tektronix as Director of International Human Resources, and spent four additional years managing a private consulting practice focused on large scale change efforts with high-tech multi-national clients.
PubTalk will also feature an early stage company presentation by Andy Barrow, President and Senior Designer of Let’s Make a Space (www.letsmakeaspace.com), a company that provides room makeover services. Early stage presentations, which follow the keynote speaker, provide new or start-up businesses a venue to receive feedback on products, services, marketing strategy or other integral components of the business. Presenters share ideas, experiences and strategies for success with other businesses, angel investors, and EDCO/OEF members.
