Central Oregon business leaders will again have the opportunity to hear a nationally recognized speaker at Economic Development for Central Oregon’s (EDCO) Annual Luncheon on Thursday, February 23, 2006 from 12 noon - 2 pm at St. Charles Medical Center Conference Facility in Bend.  The luncheon will begin by highlighting EDCO’s major milestones over the past year and will be followed by keynote speaker Walt Sutton, a writer, speaker, and consultant who lives in Seattle WA

Sutton's presentation is titled “The Secret – Your Life as a CEO/Entrepreneur”.  Over a period of 23 years, Sutton founded, owned and grew and sold four companies. Mr. Sutton’s presentation will focus on the litany of issues and skills which he sees as being most central to the CEO/Entrepreneur.  Sutton has written "Leap of Strength" (Silver Lake Publishing) which frames his observations and theories about the job of being a Chief Executive Officer and Entrepreneur. Other writing projects include "A Company of One" a non fiction book about independent contractors and "Glimmer Land" an entrepreneurial fairy tale, as well as a novel, several short stories and articles.

Sutton was a TEC (The Executive Committee) member for the last 6 years of his ownership career and credits TEC with many positive results including helping him see that he enjoys studying and writing about businesses more than he likes founding and running them. He was also a TEC Chair in Vancouver BC for three years before returning, full circle, to Seattle where he now lives with his artist wife.
