Oregon Software Company Winner of BVC 2008 Investment Fund
Portland startup Jama Software beat out four other early stage companies to win the investment prize at Bend Venture Conference 2008. The announcement was made at the end of the full-day conference which drew more than 300 entrepreneurs, investors, and service providers from throughout the Northwest and California.
“This was a very tough decision,” said Bruce Juhola, a BVC board member who oversees the investment fund. “The quality of the companies that applied was great, as were the presentations.”
Jama Software is a developer of a collaborative, Web-based application that helps companies build software products faster and more efficiently. The company will receive an investment fund of $110,000 from the conference, pending due-diligence review by four members of the BVC Investor, LLC.
In addition to Jama Software, four other finalist companies took turns taking the stage at Bend’s Tower Theatre and presenting their business plan to an expert investor panel. Those companies were:
- Dune Sciences, Inc. – Eugene, OR – Product development company focusing on the manufacturing, organization, and visualization of materials at the molecular scale.
- Eco-Winter Systems, LLC – Bend, OR – A green building products company with a sales-proven patented technology that winterizes residential homes.
- GadgetTrak – Tualatin, OR– Provider of theft recovery software solutions for mobile devices.
- Golden Signals, Inc. – Beaverton, OR – Developer of a proprietary product that provides easy viewing of any type of digital media.
BVC has established itself as the major regional event connecting seed and early stage companies with investment opportunities. This year’s event drew more than 20 startup companies from various sectors including nanotechnology, life sciences, IT, energy/environment, media and entertainment.
